David Bowie continues to get recognition for his musical comeback.

His latest release, The New Day, has made the shortlist of Barclaycard Mercury Prize nominees.  It's one of a dozen albums up for the British award, which honors the best UK and Irish recordings of all genres exclusively on the merits of the music.

Bowie's competition includes Arctic Monkeys' AM, Disclosure's Settle, Foals' Holy Fire, and James Blake's Overgrown.

The winner will be announced at the Barclaycard Mercury Prize awards show on October 30th.
