Jim Carroll born on 8-1-50. His teenage memoir, The Basketball Diaries, became a 1995 movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This was a heavy movie. He lead a troubled life. He was also a rock singer, songwriter and bandleader. "People Who Died" catalogs friends and acquaintances who passed away before their time. He himself died of a heart attack on September 11th, 2009 at 59.
Leonardo did an excellent job in this one before he was a heart throb.
