Some people are upset with Jerry Rice for doing a commercial for Popeye's Fried Chicken. They say it promotes a stereotype about blacks and fried chicken. Come on now really? Who doesn't like fried chicken? I usually don't comment on this stuff but I do know a little about Popeye's. My son loves it.. I am of a fan of their Cajun Rice. We go to the one located on Midlothian and Hillman in Youngstown often. Some might call that a black neighborhood... We have been to the one on Lorain Ave. in Cleveland and the one in Tampa Florida many times. Sometimes we were the only white people in the place including the help....guess what??? BLACK PEOPLE like Popeye's Fried Chicken.. so do WHITE PEOPLE...and ASAIN PEOPLE..and everybody else...It's no big deal...it's not a stereotype .. PEOPLE LIKE FRIED CHICKEN... The key word here is PEOPLE. Now if they had a white guy in black face sitting in a cotton field eating a watermelon.. I could see it.. but you have an NFL Hall Of Famer having a little fun with the most consumed food in America on Super Bowl Sunday and it's a problem???? Is it just me or do people read too much into things these days?.
