Today (2-23-17) is the 41th anniversary of AC/DC filming the video for "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll)." The track from the band's second album, T.N.T., was subsequently included on the international version of its first album, High Voltage
. On February 23rd, 1976, the band hopped aboard a flatbed truck with three bagpipe players and performed the song as the truck made its way down Swanston Street in Melbourne. In 2004, Corporation Lane, near Swanston Street, was renamed AC/DC Lane. AC/DC that day consisted of singer Bon Scott, guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young, bassist Mark Evans and drummer Phil Rudd. 40 years later, Angus is the only one still in the band.
Out of respect for Bon, AC/DC hasn't performed the song since his death 36 years ago. The last time the band did the song was December 17th, 1979 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London.
