On August 1, 2001, Warren Pro Bowl offensive tackle Korey Stringer dies of heat stroke, one day after collapsing at the Minnesota Vikings' training camp.
Stringer was born in Warren. He graduated from Harding High School in 1992. Stringer played for Ohio State from 92 to 94. His Buckeyes teammates included offensive tackle Orlando Pace and running backs Eddie George and Robert Smith. As a junior in 1994, he was a consensus first-team All-American.
