Mike Shinoda Shares Response to Mark Morton's Song With Chester Bennington

Earlier this week, Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton shared a particularly special song off his upcoming debut solo album, Anesthetic.

"Cross Off" is a hard-hitting metal track that features none other than the late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington. Just days after Morton put the song out into the world, Bennington's bandmate Mike Shinoda shared a heartfelt message about the collaboration.

"I remember when Chester played this song for me in his car, almost finished," the singer/producer recalled on Twitter. "He was really happy with it. Good stuff, Mark."

When Morton released the song, he had nothing but grateful things to say about working with Bennington, who took his own life in July of 2017 — just three months after recording this track. He was astonished by the singer's seriousness with the project. Despite it being a one-off, he treated it "like it would be a Linkin Park song or his own song."

"I was pretty blown away by that," the guitarist said. "And it was immediate. Fifteen minutes after we met, we were standing over a table, one on either side, each with scraps of paper and pencil, crossing off words and trying different rhyme schemes and stuff."

Anesthetic is due out March 1st.
