THE IMPLOSION OF THREE RIVERS STADIUM 2-11-01

On February 11, 2001 I was in Pittsburgh to watch the implosion of Three Rivers Stadium home to five world championships between the Steelers and the Pirates. Lot of bad memories in that place for Cleveland Browns fans so I was glad to see it collapse into a pile of rubble. I wish i would have won the contest to be the one to push the detonator. I would have done it wearing full Browns gear. I remember the huge cloud of dust afterward. The remains of Three Rivers Stadium are buried in the landfill on Salt Springs Rd at Meridian. They were selling stadium seat backs and turf from the field for a few days. They had to stop because the teams were holding their own sale of official Three Rivers souvenirs. The Steeler's final game there was on 12-16-2000. They beat The Washington Redskins 24-3.
