That story about Kid Rock running for Senate that's been floating around the internet today (Wednesday) isn't exactly "fake news," but it's getting there.
The story from the national politics publication Roll Call with the headline “Kid Rock Eyed as Potential Senate Candidate” got started from a few quotes from a low-level Tea Party activist in Michigan. The Detroit Free Press ran a story about the discussions to retake the Senate seat at a Michigan Republican Party convention last weekend. The paper spoke with Wes Nakagiri, a Tea Party activist elected to the party’s central committee Friday night. Nakagiri said that President Trump-supporter Kid Rock “has name I.D., is an out-of-the-box idea, and would kind of get rid of that stodgy Republican image... I’ll bet you he would generate as much excitement as Trump did."
Those two quotes got picked up by a couple of local TV stations as if what Nakagiri said meant that Kid Rock had been seriously discussed as a candidate by the entire party, which then morphed into the Roll Call story from today.
Kid Rock's people have yet to comment on the Senate story.
